Parade Costume Guide
Below you’ll find everything needed for each role in our Dickens of a Christmas parade theme.
Please double-check sizes and reviews when ordering items online. For any questions or costume approval, feel free to reach out.
PARTY SCENE
Party Guests – “Dickens of a Christmas” Attire
Dancers and adults will wear Victorian-style Christmas party clothing with coordinating shoes.
You may use full costumes or mix-and-match pieces (skirt, blouse, shawl, vest, etc.).
Helpful search terms: “Civil War costume,” “Dickens of a Christmas,” “Christmas Caroler.”

Weather Note: Any layers added for warmth (long sleeves, mittens, ear muffs, coats, blankets) must match the costume colors.
Party Children
Provide:
- Pink tights
- Black lace-up boots

Clara 1
Provide:

MICE
Wagon / Walking Mice
Provide:
- Gray turtleneck, sweatshirt or hoodie
- Gray pants/sweats
- Black, white, or gray tennis shoes
- Mouse makeup (nose + whiskers)
Studio Provides:
- Mouse ears
CLARA NIGHTGOWN ROLES
Clara 2 & 3
Provide:
- Pink tights
- Ballet shoes & arrive in tennis shoes
Studio Provides:
- Clara nightgown, bloomers & blue bow — $25 rental
Hair & Makeup:
- Full stage makeup
- Half-up/half-down with ringlets
Clara 4
Provide:
- Pink tights
- Ballet or pointe shoes
- Arrive in tennis sneakers
Studio Provides:

TOY SOLDIERS
Provide:
- Black tennis shoes (studio provides spats)

- Full Toy Soldier costume — $25 rental

- High ponytail (a straight ponytail extension may be added)

SNOW ROLES
Walking Snowflakes
Provide:
- White warm outfit (white pants + white top)
- White coat, vest, sweatshirt, or turtleneck
- White earmuffs, mittens, scarf
- White comfortable shoes
- Full stage makeup
- Hair down

Provide:

- White dance sneakers (split-sole recommended; other white shoes allowed for comfort)

Sugar Plum Fairy
Provide:
- Pink tights
- Ballet shoes (arrive in tennis shoes)

Hair & Makeup:
- Full stage makeup

NATIVITY ROLES
Mary
Wear warm clothing underneath; studio will provide the outer costume.
Nativity Animals
Dancers should provide a sheep, goat, cow, or donkey costume.
